Patrick Cochran Memorial Skatepark Groundbreaking Invocation
Saturday, April 29, 2006
Bobby Andrews Recreation Center Washington, NC

Almighty God, be present, we pray, at these ceremonies. Hallow this ground to the sacred memory of Patrick Cochran and to the glorious honor of his family, his friends, neighbors, our benefactors, and of all people who will use this skate park for their recreation.

Inspire the design of this park, that is may be a magnet to the youth of this community and to those who are ''young at heart". Assign Your most militant Guardian Angels to protect this place from abuse and desecration. Bless the skate park to be a wholesome gathering place for all people from this community. Give such wisdom to the skaters and spectators that will protect them injury and instill in them an abiding gratitude that so many people have cared so much that they have made this facility possible.

And we give You thanks for giving us the inspiration and grace to transform the energy of our grief into an enthusiasm for the greater good of the youth and young adults of our city; looking with hope into the future, while drawing on strength from the past; all of which we pray, in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who with You and the Holy Spirit, live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Reverend William Winston
Zion Episcopal Church
